JAMMU, May 16: A deputation of Darhal-Budhal constituency led by Congress leader Masood Chowdhary today called on Member of Parliament and General Secretary All India Congress Committee (AICC) Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister of State for Telecommunications Sach-in Pilot at New Delhi. The deputation briefed the union leaders regarding the issues and problems faced by the people of Darhal-Budhal constituency in particular and Rajouri district in general. Masood Chowdhary thanked Rahul Gandhi MP and General Secretary AICC for his strenuous efforts in getting through the Rajouri-Poonch Railway line project. He demanded a special recruitment drive for absorption of unemployed youth of Darhal-Budhal in particular and Rajouri district in general in Central Paramilitary forces like CRPF, ITBP, CISF and BSF.
He also demanded that a Gujjar-Bakarwal regiment may be raised on the pattern of Dogra, Maratha and Sikh regiments. A special economic census to assess and ameliorate the poverty related issues of the backward Rajouri-Poonch region was also stressed upon. Rahul Gandhi after listening to the deputation assured it to take up their genuine demands with concerned quarters. The deputation while calling upon Sachin Pilot demanded that the close relatives separated in two parts of erstwhile princely state during 1965, 1971 may be provided and allowed communication facilities across the border so that they can at least speak to their blood relations. This he said will strengthen the bonds between the two neigh-bours and decrease the trust-deficit. Chowdhary also demanded revamping of the telephone exchanges of the district Rajouri and its tehsil headquarters and provision of telephone connections in the hitherto uncovered and disconnected areas of the Darhal-Budhal constituency. Chow-dhary demanded that an Information Technology Park may be started in district Rajouri on the pattern of IT Parks of Jammu and Srinagar.
