| Col Palta takes over as new Defence PRO Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 16: Col R K Palta today assumed charge of new Defence Public Relation Officer (PRO), Ministry of Defence, Jammu. 'Col Palta today took over the charge after he was transferred from Kohima in Nagaland,' official spokesman said here. Palta, who was born in Chandigarh, is an alumnus of St John's High School, Chan-digarh.
He graduated from the DAV College, Chandigarh and did his Masters in English from Punjab University. Palta was an infantry officer, he was commissioned into 15 Punjab (First Patiala) an elite infantry unit of the Army, on passing out from the Indian Military Academy (Dehradun) as part of the Golden Jubilee Course in December 1982. During the course of his service, Col Palta has served as the General Staff Officer (Operations) of an Infantry Division; the General Staff Officer (Human Rights) of a Counter Insurgency Force in the elite Rashtriya Rifles. Col Palta has earlier served as a PRO (Defence) Jodhpur from 2004 to 2007 and recently as PRO Kohima.
