44 animals rescued, 6 smugglers held | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 16: Foiling four bovine smuggling bids at Ramban, Batote and Patnitop, police today arrested six persons along with 44 animals. The success was achieved when on a tip off, SP, Ramban, Anil Magotra, issued instructions to all the SHOs to laid nakas on the national highway to foil the nefarious designs of bovine smugglers. Two bovine smugglers were held by a police party near Ramban while carrying seven bovine animals on foot towards Kashmir for selling them. Police sources identified them as Atta Mohammad, son of Ali Mohammad and Moha mmad Amin, son of Mohammad Shafi, both residents of Khari, Banihal. The same police party intercepted a Tata Mobile (JK03/4054), which was illegally carrying five bovine animals towards the valley. The cops seized the vehicle and arrested its driver Sajjad Ahmed, son of Gul Mohammad Lone of Chamalwas, and his associate Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohammad Yousaf Lone of Dardehi, Ram ban. Cases in this connection were registered at Ramban police station section 188 of RPC and section 3 of PCA. In another incident, a police party led by Batote police station SHO, Inspector Varinder Singh seized a truck (JK02AB/8975), which was illegally carrying 18 bovine animals to the valley. One person was arrested in this connection. He was identified as Abdul Latif, son of Ghulam Hassain of Harog, Ramban. a case was registered against him at Batote police station. SI Anayat Hussain, incharge, police post, Patnitop, also arrested a person who was illegally carrying 14 bovine animals to the valley. He was identified as Mirza, son of Lal Din of Dinga Amb, Hiranagar, Kathua. Police had registered a case against the accused. |
