2 killed, 40 injured in Budgam bus mishap | | | Early Times Report BUDGAM, May 16 : At least two people were killed and forty injured after a passenger bus skidded off the road at Dadompora Chadoora of Budgam district. The passenger bus JK01D 3725 left for Srinagar from Surasyar village of Chadoora tehsil early this morning and it met with an accident at Dadompora which is at a 5 kilometres distance from Surasyar. Two people died on the spot and have been identified as Mohammad Altaf Bhat, a resident of Dadompora Chadoora and Nazir Ahmad Najar a resident of Surasyar Chadoora. Five passengers including the driver have been seriously injured. The locals say that bad roads are the main cause of the accident. Chadoora-Surasyar road is in a pathetic condition and the Government is not at all concerned about this road said a local resident of Dadompora Fayaz Ahmad. He said that transport department must have checks and balances on the KMD buses as most of them are condemned vehicles and the bus which met accident too was an old model bus SHO Chadoora Manzoor Ahmad said that the bus which met the accident was an old model bus and due to heavy rush of passengers the shockers (Patta) of the bus got damaged and met such an accident." We have registered an FIR in this case under sections 279,237 of RPC (Rash and negligent driving) in Police station Chadoora SHO Manzoor Ahmad added. |
