| Poonch, May 17: Union Home Secretary R.K Singh today ruled out any compromise on national security. Singh was accorded a warm welcome at Chakan Da Bagh to get first hand information about LoC trade and the problems being faced by the traders. Ahead of Indo-Pak Home Secretary level talks on May 24-25, his visit to Chakan Da Bagh assumes much importance as the cross LoC Trade will remain on top priority during the Home Secretary level talks. Singh issued directions for smooth trade across the LoC. The concerned DDC A.K Sahu apprised Singh of various developments related to trade. While interacting with Traders at immigration center near Chakan Da Bagh, he assured all help to the traders. "Government is keen to see LoC trade flourish", he said. The traders were led by Pawan Anand and Rajeev Tandon. The duo talked about problems faced by the traders. "Whenever an item like Banana and Coconut gets huge response from both sides, the authorities imposes ban on that item for the reason best known to them", they told Singh. They also demanded increase in items to be imported and exported.
While responding to their queries, Singh said that during the forthcoming visit, he will suggest Pakistan authorities for Banking System in Trade as it will lessen the chances of hawala transactions. "By this, we would like to ensure that under invoice and over invoice should not take place. The Government is keen to ensure a proper check on import and exported items. A proper evaluation system would be in place soon and the number of vehicles will be increased in near future besides he also ensured registration of traders, transporters and drivers in addition to telephone facility", he said. Singh said the Government will consider their demands to allow them to POK on multilateral permit. He said that Government will do every possible effort to boost trade but at the same time, they will not compromise on national security as our nation's interest is above all. He also said that those traders who go for Hawala transactions will be blacklisted forever. He said, during his visit to Pakistan, he will take up the matter of JuD chief Hafiz Sayeed, master mind of Mumbai blasts. "We will press Pakistan to hand over Hafiz Sayeed and other most wanted criminals who have taken shelter in Pakistan", he said. The Union Home Secretary also reviewed security arrangements on the trade route and directions were issued for the smooth conduct of trade. |
