| CM asks DIG KASHMIR (CENTRAL) to investigate FAKE ENCOUNTERS, KILLINGS | | | Srinagar , Jan 29 As police prepares to exhume the body of Abdul Rehman Padder, allegedly killed in a fake encounter and later branded as a militant, two more cases of fake encounters in Ganderbal area have surfaced. Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, has now handed over all the three cases and also of the killing of a Srinagar youth in Pattan area few days back to DIG Kashmir (Central) for investigation. DIG Farooq Ahmad said that police was awaiting the formation of a team of experts to exhume the body. "The team will include forensic experts, health services officials and a magistrate besides officials of JK police," said the DIG. While police has already attached SSP Ganderbal and area's DySP operations to prevent any possible tampering of evidence, besides arresting the accused Sub Inspector, Farooq Ahmad Gudoo, and a head constable, family of the slain youth has alleged that the Sub Inspector killed Padder because the latter demanded the money that the former had been paid to help get a government job back. "See the mobile records. The last calls to my brother's mobile have been made by Farooq Ahmad Gudoo after which the mobile went silent for many days," said Kulsooma, Padder's sister while speaking to media persons in Srinagar . "Farooq had asked my brother to meet him at Batamaloo Bus Stand and since then he went missing," she added. The family members claim that they were sure that the body of the youth killed in Ganderbal was that of Abdul Rehman Padder as they had recognized the body from the photographs taken by police after the fake encounter. Two more cases of alleged fake encounter cases - one of Nazir Ahmad Decca from Deksun Kokernag and another of Ghulam Nabi Wani from Nowbug Kokernag - have meanwhile surfaced in Ganderbal area. Astonishingly, both the slain persons belong to Kokernag area of south Kashmir Anantnag district and were picked up from Lal Chowk area. "Nazir Ahmad Decca, who sold caps and sent near Bisco School in Lal Chowk was picked up on February 16, 2006 while Ghulam Nabi Wani was picked up on March 2, 2006 from the same area. Missing reports for both the cases have been registered in Kothibagh Police Station in Srinagar," said a police source. "There are clues that Decca was killed later in Wospash area in Ganderbal. Wani also seems to be a victim of same kind," he added. Apart from the cases of Padder, Decca and Wani, the CM has today ordered an investigation into the alleged fake encounter of Mohammed Yaqoob Mir of Nowpora Srinagar who was killed in Pattan area some days back. Security forces had claimed gunning down a militant following which violent protests had taken place in downtown area of Srinagar city with people alleging that the Mir was killed in a fake encounter. With chief minister entrusting the responsibility of investigating the four cases, the investigation team shell begin Tuesday by exhuming Padder's body. "We are waiting for the formation of a team consisting of forensic experts, health services officials and a magistrate. Police officers shall also be present when the body is exhumed," said DIG Farooq Ahmad. |
