| KATHUA, May 18: In order to aware the Sarpanches with the devolution of powers and functions of Panchayati Raj Institutions pertaining to 14 identified sectors, a meeting of Sarpanches of all the Panchayats of block Barnoti with district officers of the district was held here today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Ms. Zahida Khan.
ADDC Kathua, Mr Ajay Jamwal, AC (Dev) Mr Pawan Parihar, all the district heads of 14 identified Government Departments including Agriculture production, Horticulture, Social Welfare, PHE, PWD, PDD, Horticulture, Forest, Social Forestry, Industries & Commerce, Health Services, Irrigation, Flood Control, Animal and Sheep husbandry, representative of other line departments and large number of Sarpanches of block Barnoti attended the meeting.
Zahida while addressing the meeting assured of all possible assistance from the administration in making Panchayati Raj a real empowerment of the people. She added that the aim of organizing the event was to provide a common platform to civil administrative functionaries and Sarpanchs and Panchs for interaction and redressal of their common grievances. She called upon the sarpanches to work with zeal and dedication to come to the expectations of the people.
Earlier, the district officers detailed the Sarpanches about their powers and duties under Panchayati Raj Act. Threadbare discussion on degree of involvement of the sarpanches in planning, decision making and supervision of government schemes and assets were also held during the interaction session.
Sarpanches of different panchayats also putforth their problems on which DDC Kathua Khan passed necessary directions to the concerned head of the departments. |
