Hilly areas witnesses road show on latest agriculture machinery

UDHAMPUR, May 18: In an ardent effort to make far flung areas of the district self-reliant in agriculture technology to have substantial returns, Agriculture department Udhampur launched, for the first time, three day "Agriculture Machinery and Equipments Road show" from Chenani via Marothi-Sira-Latti-Jakhed-Basantgarh-Kaitha-Kulwanta-Ramnagar in collaboration with Assam Saii Motors (pvt.) Ltd. to demonstrate latest technological advancements in the field of agriculture machinery. During the road show, field demonstration of agriculture machinery and equipments was displayed for the farmers. The farmers of the area applauded the efforts of the Agriculture Department and said that by effectively using these machinery and equipments, they can save their money as well as time and yield good returns. While interacting with the farmers, Chief Agriculture Officer Udhampur, K.S. Sambyal said that this Road show was organized for the first time in the district to demonstrate the operationalization of agriculture machinery and equipments keeping in view the demand of the farmers of hilly areas of the district. He added that agriculture being the mainstay of these areas and farmers are utilizing their resources for subsistence purpose only. Even most of the family members remained occupied in the agricultural operations with orthodox techniques throughout the year with marginal returns. He advised the farmers to take full benefit of this road show and get most of the machinery as per their needs as this will improve not only their working efficiency but also save time, money and energy. Agriculture Machinery such as Power tiller (particularly suitable for small terraces in hilly areas) Power operated reaper, Irrigation Pump sets, battery operated knap sack spray pumps and other minor hand tools and implements were the main attraction of the road show.
Farmers as well as sarpanches and panches of the area appreciated this move of the department and showed keen interest in the "Agriculture Machinery and Equipments Road show" and desired that such types of events should be organized in future, so that better farming practices can be inculcated to farming community of this neglected belt. Besides V.K. Bhardwaj, D.A.O (Extn.), Vikas Padha, (Agriculture Extension officer Udhampur), K.K. Sharma, (Agriculture Engineer), Gopal Sharma (A.E.O, Latti), Romesh Sharma, Sarpanches, Ramesh Chander, Mushtaqahmed, Sajjad Hussain, Master Kastuari Lal, Mohd. Abaas were among others who were the part of the road show.
