Nirvana Academy organizes Band and Group contest in Golden Guitar fest | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 19: Nirvana Academy organized a 'band and group' competition on the first day of Golden Guitar Festival held at government polytechnic college here today. The main motive of the programme was to provide platform to the young budding talent of the state and produce awareness on social evils among the youth and children. More than 100 participants took part in the competition. The contest was organized in the school level, college level and professional level bands and groups category. Puran Singh Wazir and Gautam Kotwal were the judges on the occasion. Programme started with the guest performance by Anmol Amla. Song "Jammu Sher di kudiya" and "Hum kis gaali jaa rehe hai" was highly appreciated by the audience. Different genre of music like rock, pop, jazz, regional, folk and bollywood was presented by the school, college and professional bands in the competition. The mesmerized performances were followed by the speech of Sumit Sharma, cultural head of Nirvana Academy, on female foeticide. Bands and groups that participated in the competition included The Young Guns, Jodhamal Public School Rock band, JMPS Jazz band, Invisible Mode, JMPS Bollywood band, Rescue, Nuts and Bolts, Jazba, Rudra, Bloodline, Paradox and Zero. The programme concluded with the guest performances by Saptak - the fusion instrumental band and Nariender Wazir a veteran singer of the state. Neha Verma and Sumit anchored the programme. The programme was also attended by Hitesh Badyal, Neeraj Sharma, Meenakshi Sharma, Nishant Vaid, Naresh Sharma, Vikas Bawa, Kuldeep Kumar, Shivander Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Subash Dey, Mady, Amit Sharma and Prince. Solo guitar competition and prize distribution function would be held on May 22, 2012, in the college auditorium on the second day of Golden Guitar Festival, season 3. |
