Early Times Report

Jammu, May 19: After being elected president of All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) unopposed for the second time, Moti Kaul announced his team for Jammu to take forward the plans and policies of AIKS in the state and highlight the burning problems of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) living in Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Katra.
The new team vowed to support actively the cause of KPs living in Jagati township who were allegedly facing acute existential problems.
A K Raina, C L Sadhu, Aryan Ramesh, Rohit Pandita, Chandra Shekhar Bhat and Ashwani Bhat were nominated as vice-president, incharge for promotion of Naad, secretary, youth joint secretary, joint secretary for promotion of Naad and secretary (Udhampur) respectively.
Expressing confidence in the team, Kaul said that for last three years AIKS had been making efforts to highlight the problems of the people living in Jammu. Though AIKS had the focus in New Delhi but unlike in the past, the exercise was shifted to Jammu as it had the intensity of the displacement, he added. Expressing shock over the continued silence of the state as well as central governments over the enhancement of the amount of relief to the displaced KPs, proved that they did not want to do the needful. He said encroachments of their properties were still going on in the valley and the government had not given any heed to this problem so far. The passing of the Kashmiri Hindu shrines and temples Bill in the last assembly session was a great chance for all, who claimed that they were in its favour, but by throwing it into the dustbin once again, the KPs were dejected and believed that it was a moral failure of the collation government, he added.
Kaul appealed to his Jammu cadre to be ready for the sustained struggle for taking the agenda of employment, problems of overage and cash enhancement of relief to its logical conclusion.
