JAMMU, May 19: Maheshwar Sharma of Trikuta Degree College won gold medal in senior boys' Epee event in the two-day 11th Jammu District Fencing Championship which concluded today at Indoor Complex, M A Stadium, here.
However, the unscheduled power cuts created hurdles in the smooth conduct of the senior boys' finals and prize distribution function.
In senior boys' Sabre individual event, Vishal Thapar bagged first place beating Javed Ahmed of KB Public School in the final.
Winners of different age groups of boys and girls categories were given away prizes jointly by Sports Officer of State Sports Council, Rajan Sharma, manager Indoor Complex, Ashok Singh and secretary of J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Kuldeep Gupta.
This two-day competition held under the supervision of international fencer and organising secretary, Rashid Ahmed.
