DC XI beats trekkers XI by 6 runs | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, May 19: DC XI defeated Trekkers XI by 6 runs in a friendly cricket match organized by Youth Hostels Association of India in collaboration with District Youth services and Sports Department at Subash Sports Stadium Udhampur, here today. Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur,. P.K.Pole was the chief guest and Director School Education, Jammu, Gulzar Qurashi presided over the function. The toss was won by the DC XI and elected to bat first. DC XI made 60 runs in 07 overs in which Rakesh Jamwal contributes highest scores of 26 runs. In reply Trekkers XI scored 54 runs in 07 overs. Later, National Heritage Trek Expedition 2012, 17th batch of 33 trekkers flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Rajinder Singh. The trekking expedition is being organized by Youth Hostels of Association of India in close collaboration with Directorate of Education, Tourism Jammu, District Administration and Patnitop Developmental Authority. Among others, Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, District Information Officer, Udhampur, Dr. Jagdish Mehra, District Youth Services and Sports Officers, Sukhdev Singh, State Director Adventure Promotion, YHAI, J & K State Branch, K. K. Gandotra and officials of YHAI were present on the occasion.
