Play "Suno Tagore Di" enthralls audience

UDHAMPUR, MAY 19:-Natrang, renowned Theatre Group of Jammu, in association with Ministry of Culture, Government of India, J&K Tourism Department and District Administration Udhampur staged a Dogri play based on the vision of Guru Rabindera Nath Tagore at Goverdhan Palace Udhampur last evening. District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, P.K Pole was the chief guest on the occasion. Directed by Balwant Thakur, a renowned theatre personality of the state, the play aptly highlighted the social evils like early marriage of girls and dowry system. The forceful and professional theatre performance by the artists received repeated applaud from the audience. Speaking on the occasion, DDC appreciated Natrang's efforts in using theatre for generating mass awareness among the common masses about different social issues. Such programmes are imperative to eradicate social evils like early marriage of the girl, dowry system etc from the society. He said that spreading the vision of Guru Rabindranath Tagore through such type of programmes would go a long way in making society health and prosperous. Balwant Thakur, in his welcome address apprised that Natrang was presenting a series of ten shows of the play 'Suno Tagore Di' to commemorate the 150 years of Guru Rabindanath Tagore. He said purpose behind organizing such programmes was to make people aware about the gender bias, importance of women education and eradication of social evils. The team of senior actors of Natrang who enthralled the audience included Suresh Kumar, Anil Tickoo, Sanjeev Gupta, Neeraj Kant, Dimple Sharma, Rahul Singh, Tajasvi Sharma, Mohd. Yaseen, Balwinder Singh, Sushil Raina, Stanzin Paldan, Sunil Sharma, Sushil Raina, Vinay Manhas, Atin Tikka, Sakshi Prakash, Vishal Sharma, Ashwani Bali and Shivika Verma. The light and sound was looked after by Shummy Kalotra,Ashu Kalotra, Rahul Bhat and Karan Kumar.
Among other, Joint Director planning, District Officers, Academicians, inmates of Oldage Home, Nari Nikatan and Gujjar & Bakkerwale Hostel, large number of people witnessed the programme.
