JAMMU, May 19 : The busting of a militant hideout in Kunj forests of Banihal today led security forces to the recovery of arms and ammunition. Official sources said a joint column of 23 Rashtriya Rifles, 159 Infantry Battalion, Territorial Army (H&H) and police came across a militant hideout during routine searches in Kunj forests. Its search led them to the recovery of one AK rifle, its six magazines, 1,000 rounds, one sniper rifle, its two magazines, three .12 bore rifles, two UBGL launchers, six UBGL grenades, four Chinese grenades, 300 pika rounds, one radio set, 20 electronic detonators, eight IED battery boxes, two IED switches, one IED remote, eight plastic explosive cylinders, one kilogram of plastic explosive, two matrix sheets, five pieces of wires, one RPG round, one phone diary, 2,000 Pak currency notes, 5 kg ration, one LPG cylinder and two blankets. The hideout, which was made in a natural cave, was later smashed by the jawans, the sources added. |
