BJP's decline in Jammu region imminent, workers leaving party
5/20/2012 12:28:19 AM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 19: With more and more loyal workers switching over to other parties, BJP seems to be loosing ground in Jammu region,
Shri Amarnath Land row of year 2008 helped BJP raise its number to 11 but subsequent events, especially secret vote drama, brought its doom. People viewed this as deceit with the mandate they had given to BJP. They began shifting over. From PDP to NC, the BJP workers have not bothered to look into merits of a political party and switched over in disgust and disbelief.
If the trend continues, BJP is all set to loose base in Jammu region. In a recent event, State Vice-President BJP Mahila Morcha Neena Gupta alongwith Mandal President Janipur Arpana Sethi resigned from BJP and formally joined JKDF. Both the female leaders did not mince words while saying that they are leaving the party due to the dictatorial attitude of state BJP leadership.
Neena Gupta said that a particular group of leaders has monopolized the party and are suppressing every voice of dissent in the party. She said that a democratic party cannot function like this. She further said that some leaders in the party with their own interests are spoiling the party and senior most workers are being ignored and favourite ones are being bestowed with important positions in the party.
They alleged that party has become an agency of NC-Congress coalition government and some leaders are working as agents of these two parties. Arpana Sethi said that there is need to bring equality between the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. She said that major political groups including Congress and BJP are playing power politics and have no concern with the common masses and interests of Jammu region.
Sethi said that there is a need to make and support a group which would have potential to emerge as one of the major alternative of Congress and BJP. Anil Gupta while welcoming both women leaders into party said that party will become stronger by utilizing the services of these Mahila Leaders for the common good of society. Other prominent core committee members present on the occasion were Surinder Sharma, Arun Khanna (Distt. President), Murari Lal, Ram Kumar, Krishan Lal , Ashok Gandhi, Prashant Puri etc.
