| About 3,000 civilians traveled on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road during last two years | | | Jammu,January 29 As many as 2987 persons,1394 from the Indian side and 1593 from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir,travelled on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road since it was thrown open to traffic on April 7,2005. This information was tabled on the floor of the house in reply to a question on Monday. The House was informed that from the Kashmir valley 798 civilians crossed over to Muzaffarabad from Uri(in north Kashmir) between 2005 and 2006 against 596 from the Jammu region.The passenger traffic from Pakistan occupied Kashmir went up from 365 in 2005 to 1228 in 2006. The House was also informed that the state govt had requested the Government of India to take up the issue of reopening of Jammu-Sialkot road for passenger traffic. In reply to another question the Government informed the state assembly that 4014 cases of victims of militancy related violence ,who had to be rehabilitated under the healing touch policy,were pending because of non-completion of formalities required for recruitment in Government services. The House was informed that 6131 cases of victims of militancy related violence had been settled under the rehabilitation plan.Another 5429 cases of those who had lost their lives in the violence and their kins were to be rehabilitated had been settled.
