NC has become synonymous with corruption: PDP | | | Early Times Report
HIRANAGAR, May 20 : PDP today alleged that NC had become synonymous with corruption and the coalition government had legalised corruption in the state. "The only achievement of this government is the legalisation of corruption", PDP general secretary Balbir Singh alleged, addressing public rallies in kandi areas of Hiranagar assembly segment. He said chief minister Omar Abdullah had created a history by heading the most corrupt and administratively poor government in the state. Although successive NC regimes had patronised corruption from time to time but the present government had crossed all limits as from top to the lower level, most of the functionaries were faced with corruption charges, he added. Balbir said the present regime would be remembered in the history of the state as the "most corrupt government". He also expressed grave concern over the hardships being faced by the kandi residents due to the anti-people policies of NC. It was due to the wrong policies of the successive NC governments in the state that some areas were still struggling to get basic amenities, he asserted. The PDP leader regretted that instead of implementing balanced and equitable development policies, the successive NC regimes had adopted pick and choose policy which ultimately led to backwardness and underdevelopment of many parts of the state. He said that successive NC regimes were never serious about providing basic amenities to the people and leaders of this party had always tried to befool the masses by raking up emotive issues. "History is testimony to the fact that NC leaders have bartered interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain in power," Balbir alleged said. He also charged NC leadership with propagating 'divide and rule' policy to divert attention of the people towards their failure. "Like previous NC regimes, the present government is also adopting the policy of raking up emotive issues to divert peoples' attentions towards its failure", he said, alleging that during the past more than three years, it had done nothing. He alleged that Omar government had been surviving on false promises and deceitful tactics. Sarpanch Jagdsih Singh, Brij Lal, Ganga Ram, Abhjeet Jasrotia, Suraj Parkash and Sukhdev Singh also spoke on the occasion. |
