| JKPC hails Cong resolution favouring empowerment of Panchayats | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 20: Welcoming Congress stand on Panchayats, Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Conference (JKPC) an organization of elected Sarpanches and Panches of the state of Jammu and Kashmir said that Congress party which is part of the coalition government in the state has cleared its stand by adopting a resolution in favour of Panchayats.
Shafiq Mir convener Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Conference in a statement said that now it is clear that only National Conference was hurdle in empowering Panchayats for which this party will have to pay heavy price.
Asking main opposition party of the state, People's Democratic Party (PDP) to make its position clear on the lines Congress did, Mir said that PDP should also made public its stand clear and bring a resolution in the coming assembly session regarding the empowerment of Panchayats if it is sincere in this regard.
Shafiq Mir said in his statement that the JKPC would launch state wide agitation soon if Panchayats were not empowered at par with other states of the country. |
