Bureaucrats, medicos join "Greenathon" | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 20: A Green Walk was today organised in lush green lawns of historic Tourist Reception Centre, Srinagar where senior bureaucrats and others participated to appreciate new concept of Green Walks. The senior officers including IG Crime Yoginder Kaul, DIG Phongchuk, Director Finance Rashim Kashyap, Secretary CM Secretariat Dev Lata, Director Libraries Arun Kumar Sharma, Additional Secretary to Government, Revenue Department, Amit Sharma, Sr. Env. Engineer JKSKPCB Jivanand Sharma, Deputy Director Employment Kapil Sharma, Anil Sharma and Nidhi Anand besides Medical students from Government Medical College Srinagar also participated in 2nd Green Walk which started from Tourist Reception Centre and culminated at Shankracharya. Highlight of today's GreenWalk was introduction of new noble concept of Biking and Hiking floated by Amit Sharma who has initiated the persuasion and motivation programme of going to Secretariat and coming back on bicycles which is eco friendly mode of transport and need acceptance at all levels of society. Addressing the gathering J N Sharma, environmental expert, highlighted new guidelines for energy efficient buildings to save energy and make surroundings pollution free by the adoption of greener technologies and materials. Speaking on the occasion, IG Yoginder Kaul congratulated O P Sharma for launching Green Walks after Tree Talks and hoped that all members of civil society will join hands to put efforts in initiating ground action to realize the goal of clean and green environment. |
