Revenue officials connive with mafia in open loot of prime land at Samba | Former Tehsildar, Patwari, Girdawar seek bail in criminal case today | | Abodh Sharma Jammu, May 20: Former Tehsildar Samba and now sitting SDM in Reasi district, along with other officials of revenue department shall appear before the present Tehsildar Samba to seek bail in a criminal complaint filed against them u/s 107 crPC by the husband of the victim whose land was usurped by these officials in connivance with the mafia. The accused later threatened the victims with dire consequences if they dared to raise their voice against their wrong doings. In the case that mocks at Government's rhetoric of clean and responsive governance, officers and the officials of Revenue Department including Tehsildar , Naib Tehsildar, Patwari and Girdawar hatched a criminal conspiracy in connivance with the land mafia of Samba who reportedly enjoy political patronage to usurp the prime land belonging to a woman just opposite the office of DC Samba. According to the case filed by the victim in Anti Corruption Court through her counsel K S Parihar, the revenue officials fraudulently sold off the land belonging to the victim Meena Anand through fraud fard jamabandi, in khasra number 291 at Nanake Chak Samba to Raj Kumar and Jugal Kishor, both agents of the property mafia of Samba district through one Gulab Singh. The land was further sold to Vishal Singh and Baldev Raj Singh by again manipulating revenue records with the criminal connivance of the revenue officials. While the sources divulge that the entire deal was worth Rs. 1.35 crores, of which the revenue officials made over 60 lakhs, the victims, who were the owners of land were threatened by one Rajinder Singh, identified as Girdawar of the revenue department against making any representation. While the victims ran from pillar to post to no avail, a 5-story flour mill came up at the disputed land. Interestingly, the victim, Meena Anand had availed a loan from the Jammu and Kashmir bank against the said land for the purchase of a tractor in the year 1997 and the land was under the lien to Jammu and Kashmir Bank . Even as the tractor loan was settled, the land under question continued to be under lien and yet the then Patwari, issued the fard stating that the land was free from any liability. "Neither police nor revenue authorities were ready to take cognizance of our complaint" said the victim. However, the case was filed through their counsel in the court of special judge anti corruption Jammu, while another criminal complaint was filed against revenue officials u/s 107 crPC with Tehsildar Samba.
