Ravi Tawi Irrig Project casual workers hold dharna | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 21: A mass meeting cum dharna of the seasonal casual workers, need base workers of Ravi Tawi, Tubewell irrigation and Flood Control Department was held at Jammu under the chairmanship of Yash Pal President of the J&K Tubewell irrigation flood control employees association. Objective of the meeting cum dharna was to highlight issues of the daily rated workers and sought their early redressal. "On the other side the department has not implemented the govt. orders issued by the finance department dated 19.01.2011 to increase the wages of daily rated workers from Rs. 110 to 125 w.e.f April 2011 but after repeated request by the employees representation still the matter is hanging in the air, leaders said. Kamal Verma (Convener), Vinod Kumar (Vice Convener), Pushpinder Singh (General Secretary), Amarjeet Singh (Secretary), Pardeep Kumar and Sandeep Kocher (Both Organizer), Sunil Kumar (Joint Secretary), Vikas Sharma (Treasurer), Ankush Verma, Jang Bhadur Singh, Garu Ram and Chuni Lal (all executive members) spoke on the occasion and highlighted the issues of casual workers. While addressing protestors, Gurnam Singh Salathia provincial President of J&K Daily Wagers Joint Action Forum criticized the govt to anti workers attitude towards the poor workers and not frame clear policy of all department daily wagers who have engaged since 1994. They unanimously decided to observe three days Kaam Chhoro Hartal from May 24-26 called by Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) and appealed the departmental daily waters to participate the protest demonstration at Press Club Jammu on May 24. |
