BJP state Vice-President Satish Sharma has flayed the local MLA of Billawar Dr. Manohar Lal for his alleged failure to obtain funds for promotion of tourism in his constituency.
Satish Sharma while appreciating the concerned authorities for spending Rs. 21 lakh for the development of Tourist Reception Centre, Basohli, took the local MLA to task for not getting the similar amount for the development of Sukarala Devi Temple, which is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. He said the very fact that only Rs. 76000 have been spent on the development of Sukarala Mata Temple shows how indifferent has been the attitude of the local MLA towards such a sacred place.
Satish Sharma further said that there are a number of other places in Billawar which if given proper attention and developed, can attract tourists and pilgrims in thousands. He said while Bhaddu and Machhadi can be developed as tourist spots, Shiv Mandir at proper Billawar, Gurah Thantu Shiv Mandir and Ramkot are historically importance places of pilgrimage but have not been developed properly. He asked the tourism department to take development of these places so that tourists and pilgrims can visit there. He said that the people of this constituency had returned Manohar Lal to the State assembly with high hopes but are feeling betrayed as he has taken care of his personnel interest only and ignored the constituency
