Chief judge course in Sport Climbing | Topper Shawetica among 2 qualify from J&K | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 21: General secretary of Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Khajuria and a senior member of the Association, Shawetica KhajuriaK have qualified as President of the Jury (chief judge) for the National Sport Climbing Competitions. While Shawetica Khajuria with 80.67 percent marks topped the list of eight successful candidates, Ram Khajuria, for whom it was a refresher course, clinched the sixth position with 80 percent marks. A total of 19 candidates from five zones of the country appeared for the course. The course was conducted by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, the apex body for adventure sports in the country, under the overall supervision of S Bhattacharjee. Ajit Sitaram Kushe, an international sport climbing judge and Debabrata Mukherjee, an experienced national judge were the faculty members. Shawetica was sponsored for the course jointly by Tawi Trekkers J&K, her parent organization and J&K State Sport Climbing Committee, of which she is treasurer. It may be mentioned here that `President of Jury' acts as a chief judge and is the supreme authority with respect to all aspects of running of the competition and also presides over all organizational and technical meetings of a competition. Meanwhile, Tawi Trekkers J&K held a function in the honour of Shawetica and felicitated her for bringing laurels to the state and club. She was honoured by president of Tawi Trekkers, Sumant Singh Jamwal. Jamwal hoped that with elevation of Shawetica Khajuria as chief judge, the game of sport climbing would further prosper in J&K. Prominent among others present were secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Ram Khajuria, vice president of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Seema Kharyal; Arjun Singh Kamal Kumar, both founder members of Tawi Trekkers; Yogeshwar Kumar, vice president of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Rahul Sharma and Arti Sharma, Sumit Khajuria, Virender Magotra, Navneet Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma, Mrigank Koushal and Sonam Sidharth. |
