Prashant's ton guides Kathua XI to huge win

JAMMU, May 21: Brilliant knock of unbeaten 101 runs from Prashant today guided Kathua XI to a huge 119 runs victory over JK Media XI in the ongoing 3rd Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial Cricket at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Prashant took just 65 deliveries to achieve the feat of making first century of the tournament studded with 14 boundaries and a six.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Kathua XI set a big total of 300 runs for the loss of nine wickets in given 50 overs, which, in reply, JK Media XI could not chase and bowled out for 180 runs in 33.2 overs.
Prashant remained top scorer with unbeaten 101 runs while Ompal and Tarsem contributed 47 runs each to the total. Rompy also played fine innings of 29 runs. From JK Media XI, Rakesh was most successful bowler with four wickets, followed by Ravi, who took two. Sourav Chopra and Rajesh Gill shared apiece each. Later, JK Media XI, despite having two first class cricketers to their side, could not attain the goal and bowled out for 180 runs in 33.2 overs thereby lost the match by a big margin of 119 runs.
Rakesh Koul played confident innings of 48 runs while Farooq and Rajesh Gill contributed 36 and 16 runs respectively. Arvind bowled the match winning spell of five for 41 runs in 6.2 overs and Rompi took two wickets giving away 10 runs in three overs he bowled. Tarsem and Jatinder bagged one wicket each.
Today's match was officiated by Salim-ur-Rehman and Suresh Singh as umpires while Raghav Verma was scorer.
