| Rs. 2 lakh realised as fine | | | Kathua | Jan 29
An amount of Rs. two lakh was realized as five by the Regional transport officer (RTO) of the area alongwith his team, while checking about 92 vehicles on National Highway and on interior routes of Kathua district here today. The operators of these vehicle were challenged for violation of traffic rules.
RTO, MA Qazi, ARTO R.S. Charak and two motor vehicle inspectors, Shammi Kumar and Jaswant singh, under the directions of transport commissioner, Dalip Singh conducted extensive checking of vehicles. RTO, Kathua directed the operators to ply their vehicles with valid documents and not to indulge in overloading, rash driving and asked them to deposit their token tax in the RTO office Kathua immediately. He directed all the drivers and conductors of public service vehicles to wear prescribed uniform under rule. Otherwise stick action will follow according to the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act.
