| Interaction session with Sarpanches held | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, May 21:With an aim to make Panchayat Representatives (PRs) aware about the devolution of powers and functions to Panchayati Raj Institutions pertaining to 14 identified departments, a meeting of Sarpanches of all the Panchayats of block Kathua along with district officers was held at D.C Office Complex, here today .
ADDC Kathua, Mr Ajay Jamwal, AC( Dev) Mr Pawan Parihar, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Mr Puneet Sharma, Block Development Officer, Kathua Mr Anirudh Rai, district heads of all 14 identified Government Departments including Agriculture production, Horticulture, Social Welfare, PHE, PWD, PDD, Horticulture, Forest, Social Forestry, Industries & Commerce, Health Services, Irrigation, Flood Control, Animal and Sheep husbandry, representative of other line departments and Sarpanchs of block Kathua participated in the meeting.
District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Ms Zahida Parveen Khan, while addressing the meeting, assured all possible assistance to the PRs from the administration and reiterated that Panchayati Raj is real empowerment of the common people.
She added that the aim of organizing the event was to provide a common platform to civil administrative functionaries and recently elected Sarpanches and Panches for a positive interaction and redressal of their common grievances. She called upon the Sarpanches to work with zeal and dedication to come up to the expectations of the people.
During the meeting district officers of various line departments detailed the Sarpanches about their powers and duties under Panchayati Raj Act. Threadbare discussion on degree of involvement of the Sarpanches in the planning, decision making and supervision of government schemes and assets were also held in the meeting.
Sarpanches also projected their problems during the interaction and sought clarification on various issues. |
