Infiltration bid foiled in Keran sector | | | early times report SRINAGAR, May 23: Troops today foiled an infiltration bid from across the Line of Control (LoC) by militants who escaped to other side of the border after being challenged in Keran sector. Official sources said that troops guarding the LoC noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) under the cover of darkness in the wee hours in Keran sector. When challenged, militants opened fire with automatic weapons. Troops also returned the fire but the militants managed to escape back into PoK. There was no report of any loss of life or injury to troops on the side. Troops have already intensified night and foot patrolling along LoC to foil such infiltration attempts by militants waiting in launching pads near LoC to sneak into this side. The GOC 15 Corps, Lt Gen SA Hasnain has already warned that infiltration attempts from across the border will increase during the next two months when the snow will start to melt on higher reaches. |
