| CB produces challan against sr advocate in cheating, forgery case | | | early times report
JAMMU, May 23: Crime branch (CB) of the state police today produced challan against senior advocate Bashir Ahmad Mir in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) in an alleged case of cheating and forgery.
The CB has registered the case against him under sections 420, 465, 468 and 471 of RPC. Originally a resident of Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam, he was at present putting up in a locality near G B Pant hospital, Srinagar, CB sources said.
The CB was directed to investigate the case by the CJM after Baldev Raj of R S Pura had moved his court with a complaint of forgery and cheating against the accused.
In his complainant, Baldev alleged that in 2005, the advocate told him that a house situated at plot No 19-A, Block-C, Sector-B, Gandhi Nagar, was allotted to one Vijay Bhat by housing and urban development department, who had given him full authority to dispose it off.
Bashir then executed a Power of Attorney in his favour and also facilitated the transfer of the house in his name in 2007 after receiving a payment of Rs 73 lakh which was made to the accused through demand drafts, cheques and in cash.
After the house was transferred in his name, he came to know that Bashir had sold it to him unauthorisedly as Vijay and his brothers, who were its real owners, did not let him take its possession.
During the course of investigation, CB found that Vijay had executed a letter of authority in favour of Bashir for watch and ward of the property.
In order to cheat Baldev, the advocate sold the house to him for Rs 73 lakh.
Based on its investigation, CB booked him in a case of cheating and forgery.
The next date of hearing was fixed on June 6, 2012. |
