Triple murder accused held from HP | | | early times report JAMMU, May 23: A triple murder accused, who was wanted by Bhaderwah police and had been absconding since 2004, was today arrested by police from Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Manjeet Singh, son of Hari Ram Bhagat of Drone in Prem Nagar, Doda, was wanted by police in a triple murder case for the past about eight years. A case was registered against him at Bhaderwah police station under sections 302, 436 and 460 of RPC, and section 4/27 of arms act at Bhaderwah police station. He was accused of having allegedly murdered Ghulam Nabi, his wife Sakina Begum and their servant Mohammad Azam at Chakrabati on the night of November 13, 2004, police sources said. After the killings, the accused was alleged to have set ablaze the victims' house as a result of which their bodies were burnt. The motive behind the incident was to rob the family of cash and gold jewellery, the sources added. Sources further said that after the commission of the crime, the house was set afire by the accused to destroy evidence. Three accused in the case have already been arrested by police. They included Bashir Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh of Daraspura, Chakrabati, Irshad Ahmed, son of Raj Mohammad Lone of Barreru, and Mukhtyar Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mustafa of Malai Behla. Manjit, who was absconding, was arrested by police today on a tip-off, the sources added, saying investigation in the case was expedited after Garib Dass took over as DIG of Doda-Ramban range. The team, which was sent to Solan to apprehend the accused, worked under the supervision of SP Doda Mohammad Arif Rishu.
