5/24/2012 9:32:40 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 24: Guided by fine innings from guest player, Mithun Manhas and Jasvinder, Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) today registered a huge 239 runs win over Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) XI in a second round tie in the ongoing 3rd Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College ground, here.
Batting first, after winning the toss, JCC set a challenging total of 316 runs losing all their wickets in given 50 overs. In reply, DYSS XI could not chase the total and bowled out below 100 runs mark at 77 in 18.2 overs. Jasvinder remained top scorer from JCC with 77 runs while Mithun Manhas made 43-ball 60 runs including nine boundaries. Sandeep Singh (49) and Sidharth Singh (38 off 27 balls) were other main contributors to the total. From DYSS, Jagtar Singh and Sameer Malik took three wickets each while Gurvinder and Pankaj Sasun shared two each.
Later, DYSS XI could not face the bowling wrath of JCC, especially in the wake of rising required run rate. Wickets started falling on regular intervals as if the batsmen were playing Twenty20 innings. Failing to consolidate by staying on the wickets for long, DYSS XI could not even survived the 20 overs and bundled out for a meager total of 77 runs that too in 18.2 overs. Only three batsmen could touch the double figure mark with Sameer Malik, Pankaj Sasun and Opinder Singh making 11, 10 and 11 runs respectively. Rahil Singh and Vishavjeet bowled deadly spells taking away three wickets each while Manjeet and Deepak bagged one each.
