Sheila Dikshit dedicates 'Yasho-Karan Park' to people
'Pays obeisance at Shri Raghunathji temple'

JAMMU, May 24: Chief Minister, Delhi, Sheila Dikshit accompanied by Chairman J&K Dharmarth Trust Council and Rajya Sabha Member (MP) Dr. Karan Singh on Thursday evening dedicated Yasho-Karan Park to the people which is being developed near Shri Ranbireshwer temple.
The park has been beautifully developed on sprawling area of about eight kanals of land with the facilities of illumination, seating, landscaping and drinking water. An attractive fountain especially imported from Rajasthan has been installed in the park which symbolically shown flowing through thick locks of Lord Shiva.
Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma, MLC Vijay Bakaya, Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh, President Dharmarth Trust Th. Diwakar Singh, Maj Gen. (Retd.) Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Joint Director Information Soujanya Sharma, Senior Advocate D C Raina, Ex-Deputy Mayor Rani Bloeria, Secretary Dharamarth Trust Shashi Khajuria besides prominent personalities and people in large numbers were present on the occasion.
Remembering the Maharani Yasho Rajya Lakshmi on her 3rd death anniversary, Dikshit said Maharani always fought to uplift the socio-economic condition of the poor and down trodden people. She said that her caring interest in the welfare of poor and needy became an everlasting passion in her life.
She remained involved in various social and welfare missions through out her life, initially in J&K and later in Delhi.
She said that she became Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Welfare Board and Kashmir Women's industrial unit and also founded ladies clubs one at Jammu and another at Srinagar.
When Dr Karan Singh was inducted in Union Cabinet by Indira Gandhi, she shifted her social and welfare activities to Delhi and remained closely associated with them till her last.
She said she remained trustee and member of various social and welfare trusts and financially helped the poor and needy through them. She was very sincere in her obligations towards the poor. Whatever she did for them, she did it with great love and compassion like Mother Teresa.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajya Sabha Member (MP) Dr. Singh threw light on the life of Maharani Yasho Rajya Lakshmi and said development of park is the cherished dream of the Maharani. He said Maharani was staunch devotee of Shri Ranbiresh-werji temple and wanted to develop land adjoining to the temple into a good look green park for the benefit of devotes.
He said she was remained committed to the promotion of Dogra heritage, art and culture in Jammu region throughout her life. Trust honours one prominent son of the soil every year with Maharaja Gulab Singh award in recognition of his services to the nation. Earlier, on her arrival from Delhi, she paid obeisance at Shree Raghunathji temple and went round the main temple complex and appreciated the archaeological work done by the Trust.
She also visited Shree Ram Chandra and Natraji temple besides immortal Smadhies of Maharaja Gulab Singhji Maharaja Ranbir Singh ji.
