Ch. Lal Singh convened Open Darbar at Basohli | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, May 24 : Terming the development of ruralities as real scale of measuring growth, Member Parliament Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency Ch Lal Singh said government of India is endeavoring to provide every basic amenities viz water, electricity, road connectivity and education to people of rural areas especially living in hilly, kandi and border areas of the state. He was saying this while addressing an open Darbar at Tehsil Basholi of Kathua today. A large number of representatives of different panchayats apprised the Member Parliament about their problems and demands which were mainly related to water scarcity, uninterrupted power supply, road connectivity and shortage of staff in different schools, Ch Lal Singh patiently listened to the problems and assured to redress their grievances in phased manner. He called upon the officers to extend every possible help to the people living in isolated and far off areas. Ch Lal Singh appealed the people to get maximum out of government schemes meant for rural people, which not only provides livelihood but also ensure participatory development of the area. He also threw light on central sponsored schemes like MNREGA, ICDS, PMGVY, PMGSY and other job oriented schemes. MP Lal Singh said panchayat representatives have duty to project the demands and problems of their respective panchayats , adding that empowerment of panchayats will foster the pace of development in the rural areas. While speaking on the occasion Ch Lal Singh said Jammu and Kashmir is integral part of India and every action to challenge its integrity will be severely dealt. He called upon people to remain united to defeat the nefarious designs of the anti social people. Ch lal singh disclosed that to strengthen the educational and medical infrastructure in the state the government of India is providing extra funding to the state. He further added that enhancement in pension under Old Age Pension Scheme and regularization of Special Police Officer ( SPO) were taken up in parliament and other concerned authorities, adding that he will pursue these issues till the positive outcome. Responding to the demand of shortage of staff in remote area of the Tehsil Basohli, he directed Chief Education Officer to do the needful so that students of far off areas will not suffer. Ex MLA Basohli Ms Kanta Andotra also spoke on the occasion. Among others ADDC, Kathua, Ajay Jamwal, SDM Basohi,Mr A.K Sharma, Chief Engineer Sewa Hydel Project, Superintendent Engineer Electric, Tehsildar, Chief Education Officer, XEN PHE, PDD, PWD and other district and Tehsil level officers, Panchs, Sarpanchs and large number of people were also present.
