HC restrains Army from expanding slaughter house at Muthi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 24: High Court judge, Justice Hasnain Massodi today said the Commanding Officer of 19 infantry brigade could operate the army slaughter house at Muthi here but ordered that no expansion would be made in the existing structure till next date of hearing. The court directive came in a petition filed by Madan Lal and other Muthi residents who submitted that the slaughter house in the locality be either demolished or removed to other place. They said it had been constructed illegally by the infantry brigade against the provisions of Land Grants Act and the Agrarian Reforms Act and without any proper permission. They sought direction to CO to shift the slaughter house to a place where the general public did not have to face any in convenience. After hearing the two sides, the court issued notice to state through Chief Secretary, Commissioner/Secretary Revenue, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, regional director of state pollution control board, Union of India through Ministry of Defence and CO of 19 infantry brigade. The court ordered that the CO might operate the existing slaughter house at Muthi, but no expansion should be made in it till the next date of hearing.
