College teachers call on minister highlight demands | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 24 : A delegation of J&K College Teachers Association (Jammu Wing), led by Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta, President CTA called on Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Mallik, to express strong resentment and lodge a protest on behalf of the College Teachers of the whole state, on the purported move of the Higher Education department to give effect to placements of college teachers from the date of completion of orientation/refresher courses, instead of the actual due date of placement, as was done earlier. President CTA, Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta drew attention of the minister to its earlier placement order Nos: 31-HE of 2009 dated 5/2/2009; 32-HE of 2009 dated 5/2/2009; 112-HE of 2005 dated 23/5/2005 & 113-HE of 2005 dated 23/5/2005 which incorporated a provision of undergoing Orientation/Refresher courses, as required under rules, within a period of two years from the date of issue of placement orders. Even SRO 284 dated 3rd September 2009 (adoption of UGC revised pay scales) has the same provision. It was pointed out that wherever the requirement of Orientation/Refresher courses have been completed after the due dates, was because the concerned teachers were unable to attend the same, as the heads of institutions were not in a position to relieve them during the academic session. Further, the Academic Staff Colleges in the State have also not conducted courses in many subjects and had a limited intake in each course. In view of the above facts, the CTA hopes that in the interest of the academics, the Higher Education Department shall follow the conditions as in earlier placement orders and as mentioned in SRO 423/23.12.2008 & SRO 284/3.9.2009. |
