A second round of lie-detection test in conection with the two accused in the killings at Nithari village on the outskirts of Delhi has put a big question mark over the narco-analysis conducted in Gujarat. The CBI, now conducting in-depth investigations, has not brushed aside reports that one month after the horror of the macabre Nithari killings began unfolding, the truth is still hidden in the dark dungeons of the minds of the two accused - Moninder Singh Pandher and Surendra Koli.
Nithari village is located in UP's Noida sector. After the glaring lapses in the Noida police probe came to light, the case was handed over to the CBI. But the investigating agency is simply not satisfied with the interrogation of the two accused. And neither have they much faith in the narco-analysis report released by the Gujarat Forensic Science Laboratory. After the President, APJ Abdul Kalam, reportedly made discreet queries in relation to the Nithari killings and the progress of investigations, the CBI leadership decided not to leave anything to chance.
In other words, the CBI was left with no option but to put both the Nithari accused through a second round of lie-detection test as, according to sources in the CBI headquarters, the first test conducted in Gujarat was incomplete. Not just the CBI, the forensic experts from Gujarat also suggested that the tests were not done properly.
Not just the decision to put both the accused through another round of tests puts a big question mark over the narco-analysis conducted in Gujarat, it also means that CBI is not very confident that the evidence that they have so far will hold in the court of law. Which is one of the reasons why CBI wants to know the facts that the two accused are concealing. Pandher, the owner of Noida's 'house of horror', has remained a tough nut to crack.
During the test, Pandher and Koli were subjected to questioning by scientists of Centre for Forensic Sciences Laboratory pertaining to their role in the killings of women, especially Payal, sources said. But the CBI has now found out that he had consistently paid money to Nodia police officials to avoid being arrested in the last two years, a truth which can now put a few police officers behind bars.
