Mufti's mission Chenab Valley puts Congress on back foot
Emphasizes importance of Hindu votes

Kishtwar, May 25: The increased political activities of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Congress party in Chenab Valley have added to the woes of the Congress.
PDP seems in a hurry to realize its dream of capturing the vote bank in the Valley which otherwise is considered a strong bastion of the Congress group led by Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The importance of the Chenab valley votes can be gauged from the fact that the former Chief Minister and patron PDP Mufti Mohammad Sayeed toured the area and evoked good response.
The PDP patron not only addressed rallies but held meetings with the party workers at grass root level and urged them to work with zeal for the betterment of people.
He also advised them to formulate a draft plan regarding the problems faced by the people living in Chenab region so that a viable solution to those problems could be found. He urged them not to indulge in blame game.
Mufti talked about importance of the Hindu community. According to him, nobody could run a government effectively without their support. Mufti advised the party leader to move forward by taking the people from Hindu community on board.
Mufti saw a "ray of hope in Chenab valley where the members of both the communities live together despite odds."

Mufti has plans to send leaders like Muzzafar Hussain Beig, Chowdhary Zulafkar Ali and other senior party leaders to tour Chenab valley at regular intervals.

Congress party has 5 out of 6 seats from Chenab valley. However, poor healthcare, road connectivity, shortage of teaching staff in schools has been strongly resented. The other cause of the growing resentment among the people is that the area has been left unattended and unrepresented in state cabinet after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah dropped MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori from the council of ministers over the allegation of his involvement in impersonating scandal involving his daughter which Saroori denied. It was nearly two years since Chief Minister Omar Abdullah striped Saroori from his portfolio and then underdog Congress fails to regain the portfolio of R & B ministry presently held by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Despite being in the government, the Congress party is struggling to finish the various developmental projects started by none other than Ghulam Nabi Azad during his tenure as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The trust deficit between the two factions can also be judged from the recent uproar in Congress party meet in Srinagar in which several party delegates urged the party high command to withdraw the support from NC government in case the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah did not return the Congress portfolio. Keeping in view of the ongoing tour of PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to Chenab valley, many political analysts feel that Congress will not repeat its performance in 2014 state assembly elections.
