Bar Association, Kathua protests Interlocutors' report | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, May 26: In protest against the Interlocutors' report, the Bar Association, Kathua today held a demonstration against the state government in front of District court complex. As a mark of protest the advocates suspended the court work. Demanding statehood for Jammu region, the protesting lawyers shouted anti-government slogans and burnt its effigy. The Advocates Tarlok Gupta, Arvind Gupta and Pardip Andotra said the report has nothing to deal with the discrimination with people of Jammu and dubbed it as divisive and unrealistic. They said this report is time gaining tactics of the Government of India aimed at hoodwinking the people of Jammu. Bar Association Kathua alleged that it was a deliberate attempt by the union government to deny people of Jammu their rightful demands. They have not mentioned about the delimitation, which was a major issue. Jammu in every respect is a bigger province than Kashmir, and should get the representation accordingly, but it is unfortunate that the region continues to be dominated by Kashmir. |
