| Hizb commander killed in Ramban encounter | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 26 : A self-styled divisional commander of Hizb-ul-Mujaheedin outfit was today gunned down in remote area of mountainous Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir. “Based on a tip-off regarding movement of Hizb Divisional Commander Ghulam Qadir, police and army late last night launched a search operation in Bachkundi area of Ramban,” a senior police official said today. He said the patrol party cordoned the area off adding, “on seeing the security forces, the militant fired at them, which was retaliated and a fierce gun battle was triggered.” The exchange of fire lasted for the night and the militant was successfully eliminated this morning at around 0700 hours, he added.“One Ak-47, three magazines, one pouch, 60 live rounds were recovered from the possession of the slain militant,” he said. |
