| Enhancing health infrastructure: Azad says liberal central funding has been assured | | | Jammu, January 30 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that he has been given assurance that liberal funds are being released by the Centre for establishing a rich network of health infrastructure in all villages, blocks, tehsils, districts and capital cities of the state This was stated by the chief minister at a meeting chaired by him here today wherein he reviewed the working of health department. Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma, Secretary Health and Medical Education K. B. Jandial, Directors of Health Services Kashmir and Jammu Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad and Dr. Jasbir Singh and other senior officers were also present. Azad said that he has already discussed with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other central leaders about desirability of immediate implementation of various schemes in the state whereunder a chain of health centres, sub-district hospitals and other health units will be established covering entire population and area of the state. He advised the officers to work round the clock on various schemes which will be launched in the state keeping in view geographical location, topography and climate of the state. Azad advised Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma to continuously monitor the schemes. He on spot contacted the concerned authorities in Delhi on telephone and a special team of senior officers of health department of the state shall be deputed to Delhi to finalize all the schemes. Chief Minister said he had been was assured that liberal funds are being released by the centre for establishing a rich network of health infrastructure in all villages, blocks, tehsils, districts and capital cities of the state. The scheme also envisages recruitment of doctors and para-medical staff for implementation of the scheme so that proper medical facilities are available to the people at their door steps. Azad, however, advised the health department to gear up the health machinery throughout the state in order to provide prompt and timely medicare to the needy. He opined that revolutionary steps were required to be taken so that the people living in cities, districts, far- flung and cut-off areas are able to get proper medical care. Rural health mission, Asha, RCH and other schemes were also discussed in the meeting.
