Two months on, isolated foundation stone mocks at people of city | Hyped Maharaja Hari Singh park | | early times report Jammu, May 27: Two months after the foundation stone of the Maharaja Hari Singh Park was laid amidst lot of hype and political hullabaloo by former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, not a brick has been added to the place even though the department of the Housing and Urban Development, responsible for developing the place is headed by Azad loyalist Tara Chand. Azad has gone on record several times expressing regret that many of his initiatives have been grounded by the present coalition government and the hyped Maharaja Hari Singh Park could well be the latest entry into the list of political casualties. While many such initiatives of the former Chief Minister were shelved either by departments headed by the Ministers of Coalition partners or by the Minister of his own party belonging to the rival Soz camp, this one has interestingly been shelved despite of the fact that the department is headed by the DyCM who heads PCC faction that enjoys Azad's patronage. Meanwhile, resentment is brewing amongst the prominent citizens who were witness to the grand inaugural ceremony held on April 1. Except for the foundation stone that mocks at one corner of the park and a stretch of pathway, not a single brick has been added to the park in little less than two months. Local residents in the area feel cheated. "If we were promised a park in the heart of the city by the Union Minister who also remained chief minister, why the state government and the department headed by the congress minister has failed to complete the necessary work in the park" a local resident in the area said. Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand who visited the park on number of occasions and directed the authorities to expedite the work before the foundation stone laying ceremony has forgotten the place ever since.
