Shabir assails CCI president for questioning credibility of PRC Inquiry Commission Says those who do so are part of land mafia in J&K | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 27: MDF president Shabir Ahmad Shah today surprisingly came in support of the state subject inquiry commission (SSIC) over the statement of Y V Sharma, president of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), in which he not only challenged the commission functioning but also termed it biased and motivated to harass the people of a particular community. Sharma had said, while the SSIC had been serving notices on some Jammu people, including top businessmen, it was silent in the case of Kashmir.Shah took serious note of his statement, alleging that it was "mischievous attempt to misguide the people and create confusion among them". He said SSIC was a legal institution created to protect the legal rights of permanent residents of J&K. "Those who question its credibility are infact the members of land mafia group which is active in J&K for the last two decades. Indeed, the elements who criticize the SSIC functioning are backed and financed by influential capitalists and anti-social elements who have managed fake state subject certificates and have established mega business centers," he alleged. Such people had also fraudulently and forcibly succeeded in capturing the land of poor people, he alleged. Shah alleged that some influential and selfish politicians, and some black sheep (bureaucrats) in administration were in league with these land mafia groups. "The state government, which acts as a mute spectator, has encouraged the land mafia to such an extent that they are now openly criticizing the legal institutions and the administration and have directly started political interference in J&K state," he alleged. The powerful land mafia was adamant to make PRC inquiry commission ineffective, he added. Shabir said the CCI president, before issuing irresponsible statements like the present one opposing PRC inquiry commission, should know that the state subject certificates were issued by an order of Maharaja Hari Singh on January 31, 1927, for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. "PRC safeguards the interests and protects the legal and constitutional rights of J&K residents available to them under constitution of India as well as the constitution of J&K state. Therefore the residents of J&K irrespective of religion, ie Hindu, Muslims, Sikh, and Christian, demand more legal authority and powers to the state subject inquiry commission," he said. He demanded the cancellation of lakhs of fake state subject certificates issued during the past 20 years of turmoil and uncertain political conditions of the state to outsiders, including Afghan nationals. He said if the land mafia was not stopped from opposing PRC inquiry commission, it would have terrible results in near future because."This mischievous statement can create feeling of regional disparity, which is detrimental for the unity and integrity of the state," he asserted. He termed Sharma's statement as "mischievous" and appealed to the people to unite for the protection of their legal rights and keep an eye on the activities of the conspirators to make their designs unsuccessful. He also appealed to the chief minister to provide more legal powers to the PRC inquiry commission so that fake state subject holders and land mafia were brought to book. He also said that the procedure for the verification of the state subject certificates be made short and effective to initiate strict legal action against the land mafia to discourage them. |
