Sainik Colony Residents call on Minister | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 27 : A deputation of more than 200 prominent residents of Sainik Colony lead by Jai Singh, ex-corporator and Gurmeet Kour Randhawa, President Jan Sewa Sanstha called on Raman Bhalla, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation and apprised him of acute scarcity of piped water in the colony. The residents were upset that water supply has gone acute even before onset of hot summer and is likely to worsen during in June and July. Residents of Sainik Colony may have to live without water for days together in soaring heat. The residents are buying water from water tankers who have also jacked up their charges seeing the compulsion of residents. The residents also showed their concern to load shedding due to non-upgradation of transformer and unscheduled power cuts. This is adversely affecting the studies of their children. Raman Bhalla, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation assured the residents that he will personally look into their problem related to water supply and assured for early action. The Minister immediately called a meeting of residents with Pardeep Gupta-Divisional Commissioner, Bodh Raj Dogra-Chief Engineer PHE and officials of PHE looking after Sainik Colony. Divisional Commissioner and Chief Engineer gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured the residents that water shortage will be resolved within a few days. |
