23 persons swap across LoC in Uri | | | early times report Srinagar, May 28: Twenty guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here today as only three Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) in the Karvan-e-Aman bus operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad. Official sources said that 20 PoK residents, including seven women and four children, arrived at Kaman post, the last Indian military post in Uri sector after crossing the Aman Setu, the peace bridge, on foot. They said three Kashmiris, including a woman, who had gone to the PoK also returned to their homes. Three Kashmiris crossed to the other side to meet their relatives, the sources said. Eighteen PoK residents, who were here, returned to their homes. They included three women and six children.
The Karvan-e-Aman bus service, started on April 7, 2005, has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other. |
