Khoda appreciates role of media
"Media facing unique challenges in state"

Srinagar, May 28: Commending the role of local media in bridging the gap between people and the establishment, Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda accepted that in the past due to some communication gaps the media had to face problems.
He also added that the challenges being faced by local media in the state are uniquely difficult and challenging.
Khoda was speaking during a luncheon he had organised for leading media persons apart from senior police officials. "Media has played an important role in establishing peace in the state.
The professional role of the media in difficult times is appreciable", Khoda said on the occasion.
He also appreciated the role of the media in constructively criticizing the establishment in pointing out certain shortcomings which according to him were removed in the shortest possible time. "Sometimes there were instances when the media person complained about them not being treated well but it was all because of misunderstandings and communication gaps between the media and the establishment", the outgoing DGP said, adding that the law enforcement agencies must make sure that such gaps and misunderstanding are not allowed to happen.
"I have had very good relations with the media and I hope my successors will follow suit", Khoda said.
The Director General Police also released a Crime Gazzette on the occasion.
Additional Director General Law and Order, K Rajendra, Additional Director General Police Headquarter, ADG Naveen Agarwal, S P Vaid, IGP Technology Sheikh Owais, Inspector General of Police Kashmir S M Sahai, IG Personnel M Sulaiman Salaria, IGP Headquarter Arun Kumar, IGP Rouf ul Hassan, IGP Alok Puri, IG CID Dr Srinivasan, IG Human Rights Qayoom Manhas, DIG Traffic Shafqat Watali, AIG Personnel Gh Hassan Bhat, SSP Srinagar Ashiq Bukhari, DIG vigilance Showkat Malik among other senior police officers were present on the occasion. The PHQ publicity wing of the Police Department under Qazi Mohammad Shafi played an important role in conducting the function. Qazi Shafi has also thanked the media persons for attending the party.
