Early Times Report
Jammu, May 28: Alleging that there is no 'clarity' in the Central Interlocutors report on J&K which was recently made public, Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh who is heading the six member Parliamentary Study Group to J&K today termed it as 'ambiguous'.
'The Interlocutors report has no clarity and it is ambiguous as it has ignored the issues related to common man,' Singh told reporters soon after his arrival here today along with the other members of the Group including JP Nadda, Vasant Raj Patil and Avinahs Roy at a press conference.
Singh led six-member Parliamentarians Study Group that arrived here on a five-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to prepare a report.
'Though there is no chapter, clause or para-wise reaction but overall we have found the report as ambiguous,' Singh said. 'The BJP too was eagerly waiting for this report because we have come to Jammu and Kashmir with an open mind and will meet all sections of the society to prepare a comprehensive report,' he added.
'The problem of Jammu and Kashmir is very complex and multi-dimensional in nature,' he said. The BJP would resolve the issue within the ambit of Indian Constitution, he added.
'We will give due consideration to the sentiments of people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,' Singh said. The report should have been submitted when the Parliament was in session so that it could have been debated.
The Interlocutors report has not only ignored minorities of Jammu and Kashmir especially Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs but also failed in preparing a roadmap for their return to the Valley and rehabilitation, he said.
'There is no mention about discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh and regional imbalance in the report,' the BJP stalwart said. The report has alleged 'mis-governance' in the State but without considering the ground realities.
It is silent on issues related to victims of terrorism, backward classes and West Pakistan refugees.
'We will meet every section of the society. But we have not extended invitations to anybody,' Singh said. All those who want to resolve the issue in the interest of the State and the country, were welcome to meet the study group, he added.
Asked for his comment on the uproar in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly disrupting Governor's address, Singh said one should maintain sanctity of the House as there are many other ways to express resentment. While replying to questions he demanded a probe into the leaking of Army Chief's letter and publication of the report later. He also termed the arrest of YRS Congress chief Jagan Reddy as political vendetta and suggested that the Centre should withdraw all taxes on petrol and diesel instead of asking States to do so.
Later, the group members visited Jagti township to ascertain the problems of displaced people there. The migrants at Jagti demanded civic amenities for them including round the clock power and regular water supply, enhancement of cash relief, reservation of four seats in Assembly and one in Parliament, construction of twin cities for their rehabilitation near Srinagar.
Singh assured the migrants that they will create pressure on Government to solve their problems and ensure their rehabilitation in Valley as per their aspirations.
