JAMMU, May 29: People’s' Democratic Party (PDP) held a strong protest demonstration at Press Club, here against Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for resorting to unscheduled power cuts and acute scarcity of drinking water. Led by vice president PDP Youth wing, Rajinder Singh Manhas, a large number of party activists assembled near Press Club and shouted slogans against State Government for continuing power cuts and scarcity of drinking water. The protesters demanded proper power supply and regular clean water in Jammu City. Manhas said that the unscheduled power cuts have made the common man's life miserable in the scorching heat. Addressing the gathering, Rajinder Singh Manhas warned PHE Minister to ensure regular potable water supply to the people in the old city otherwise PDP workers will march towards the PHE Minster's residence and he will be responsible for the consequences. Manhas asked the authorities not to test the patience of the Jammu people and ensure regular supply of electricity and water in the city.He further said that even the areas are totally metered but still people are not supplied regular power which speaks how much the PDD keeps its promise of round the clock supply of electricity in Jammu city areas. |
