Another drama, Govt convenes cabinet meeting at Tangdar
Choppers to take ministers for cabinet meeting

Bashir Assad
Srinagar, May 29: Tangdar is a far-off place in equally farthest assembly segment of Karnah in north Kashmir's Kupwara district that the Omar Abdullah led cabinet has selected to meet today and in a move to provide administration to the people of this remote area at their door steps.
Interestingly , it will cost about one crore rupees to carry the VVIPs to Karnah where the highest decision making body of the state will discuss among other things the local development with one Tehsildar, Executive Engineer R&B Special Sub-Division Karnah and the SDPO. What a wonderful way to kid the people.
According to sources 16 cabinet ministers will arrive at Kupwara this morning where from they will be air lifted to Karnah by state helicopter having capacity of four persons which means the eight sorties to and fro and two special sorties for the chief minister from Srinagar to Karnah and back.
Insiders maintain that the move under the garb of providing administration to the people of remote areas at their door steps is actually to enjoy pleasant weather at picturesque and scenic areas of the valley. "They chose Karnah intentionally to avoid criticism and hoodwink people, now they will be free to convene such meetings at tourist places like Ahrebal in Shopian, Daksum in Kokernag, Dhara (Dachigam) in Srinagar, Yusmarg, Tosamaidan, Dodepathri in Budgam district, Sonamarg in Ganderbal district. Likewise they will chose picturesque places in Jammu division to hoodwink people".
Reportedly people from district and divisional administration have arrived in Karnah two days back to make arrangements of Wazwan etc.
Blessing in disguise it be for the government that in another summer of peace tourists are flocking like never before to this picturesque land of meadows, streams and hills that was deserted just two years ago as tension reigned and bullets flew.
Seeking to escape the searing heat of plains for the serenity of the valley visitors in their thousands are pouring in each day-galvanizing the tourism industry. And Omar Abdullah led cabinet took this opportunity to enjoy the season in country side.
Otherwise the incumbent chief minister had set a trend of holding public darbars in remote areas to listen to the public grievance for on-spot redressal which was widely hailed. It would have been in fitness of things to hold such public darbar at Karnah and other places and give on spot directions to the local administration without much publicity and less expenses.
Moreover, Tangdar rather whole Karnah remains cutoff from the rest of the world for about five to six months and Chief Minister holding public darbar at this place would have been the wisest move. Convening cabinet meeting at Karnah to decide about the new police chief as the incumbent DGP Kuldeep Khoda is retiring today, is beyond comprehension. May be people at the helm of affairs be able to justify this unjustified act which has been enacted to kid the people.
