Govt issues show-cause notice | `Illegal' Allotment of 31 shops/halls at Bahu Plaza | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 30 : In the much publicized controversial allotment of 31 shops and halls situated at Bahu Plaza Jammu, the Commissioner/Secretary to Govt of J&K Housing & Urban Development Dept filed a status report in the State High Court in terms of order dated May 1, 2012 whereby State High Court had directed the commissioner/secretary Housing to file a fresh status report with regard to the affidavit filed by the Commissioner/Secretary GAD wherein the State Govt on April 12, 2012 issued directions to the Commissioner/Secretary Housing & Urban Development Dept to put the allottees of Halls/Shops to notice, seek their objections and thereafter pass appropriate orders with a view to restore the properties to JDA. In the status report filed through AAG Gagan Basotra it has been submitted that the Housing & Urban Development Dept has already issued show cause notices seeking cancellation of the allotments to all the 30 allottees excluding Shamsher Singh s/o Nanak Singh r/o 11-Ext Gandhi Nagar whose allotment already stood cancelled by the respondents which is a subject matter of challenge before the High Court. This status report further says that the show cause notices have been issued on May 18, 2012 which has been dispatched to all 30 allottees and the said allottees are enjoined upon to respond to the said show cause notice within 21 days from the date of the issuance of the said notice. In the status report the copy of one such show-cause notice issued to Vijay Gupta s/o Sh. Bihari Lal Gupta r/o 145 A/D Gandhi Nagar Jammu has been attached. The status report of far reaching importance has been filed in a petition filed by Sunil Mahajan through Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed challenging the allotment of hall No 209 South Block Bahu Plaza in favour of Sajjad Ahmed Bhat brother of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, on the ground that no procedure was followed while making the allotment and the allotment was made on extraneous considerations. Apart from this status report Adv IH Bhat has also filed his objections on behalf of Sajjad Ahmed Bhat who had been given last opportunity to file his response to the petition. All these 31 allotments had been earlier cancelled by the then Chief Minister and presently Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad which became the subject matter of challenge in batch of petitions and the said petitions were allowed for non-compliance of the procedure laid down in section 37 of Development Act.
