Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 30: Panun Kashmir (PK) today said that since the government of Jammu and Kashmir had turned a blind eye towards the legitimate demands of the residents of Jagti, the organisation has decided to take up the issue directly with Prime Minister of India.
This was disclosed by PK Convener, Dr Agnishekhar while addressing a large gathering of people consisting of activists of Panun Kashmir, Kashmira Vahini and Youth for Panun Kashmir in national capital Delhi on the last leg of his organizational tour to various cities in North India.
Dr Agnishekhar apprised the meeting about the inhuman hardships being faced by the displaced Kashmiri Pandits living in Jagti and other migrant camps.
He told the gathering that Panun Kashmir along with entire Kashmiri Pandit diaspora was with the tribulations of the residents of Jagti township.
Dr Agnishekhar also released the copy of a letter he had written to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
In the letter addressed to Dr. Manmohan Singh, Panun Kashmir Convener has brought to his attention the immense hardships faced by the residents of Jagti township in particular and other displaced people in general.
Pointing out the inhuman miseries perpetrated on the Jagti residents by virtual absence of power supply to town ship, Dr Agnishekhar termed the conditions akin to genocide.
He demanded an unconditional restoration of power supply to the Jagti.
Dr. Agnishekhar also demanded to know how the status of erstwhile camp dwellers had changed simply by relocating to the town ship. He warned to government that if an immediate solution was not found to the problems confronting them, the thousands of Jagti residents would be forced to march down to Delhi and hold demonstrations there.
In his letter to the Prime Minister, Dr. Agnishekhar also demanded enhancement of cash relief to Rs 25,000 and withdrawal of draconian conditions attached to PM's employment package.
