SRS warns of stir if power cuts not stopped | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 30: Taking serious note of power curtailment of more than six hours a day in areas of Jammu where electronic meters have been installed, Shri Ram Sena (SRS) had threatened to launch an agitation if uninterrupted power supply is not restored and hike in power tariff not withdrawn. Sena state president Rajiv Mahajan castigated the state government and Power Development Department (PDD) for enhancing power tariff on one hand and on the other forcing unscheduled power cuts. Mahajan alleged that it was assured that no power curtailment would be done in the areas where electronic meters will be installed. Mahajan appealed to the state government to immediately rollback the increase in Power tariff and asked the power department to make good of power curtailment especially in the areas where electronic meters have been installed and asked the power department to control the power thefts. SRS leaders threatened to launch an agitation if department did not improve its strategy and government also did not reduce power tariff. Others present in the meeting included Bal Krishan Arora, Ajay Gupta, Anil Chopra, Pawan Chpud hary, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Raghvir Krishan Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Parul Gupta, Sanjiv Kumar, Sham Lal, Deepak Sharma, Vishal Sharma, Vivek Gupta and others. |
